The Philadelphia Eagles officially signed OT Tyreek Burwell and DB Mercy Maston to futures contracts on Wednesday for the 2019 season.
As of now, the Eagles have signed four players to futures deals including:
- WRย Carlton Agudosi
- LB Alex Singleton
- OT Tyreek Burwell
- DB Mercy Maston
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Burwell, 26, wound up signing on with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati back in 2015. He was waived a week into the regular season and later added to their practice squad before eventually being promoted to the Chargers’ active roster.
The Chargersย elected to waive him with an injury designation coming out of the preseason and he later reverted to their injured reserve list before he was eventually waived with an injury settlement.
The Colts signed him to their practice squad a week later and eventually promoted him to the active roster. He was waived with an injury settlement coming out of the preseason.
In 2017, Burwell was active in one game for the Colts.
