Extension Coming For RB Fred Jackson?

Buffalo Bills GM Buddy Nix expects to have a contract extension in place with RB Fred Jackson before the start of training camp.

“Fred and I have visited a couple of times,” Nix said, via BuffaloBills.com. “I told him when we get through it we’ll at least do it before training camp. That way there’s no chance of him getting hurt.”

Jackson’s 2012 salary will be $1.95 million and it just so happens that he’ll be entering the final year of his contract. He’s currently 31 and coming off of a broken leg so I’m sure that the team will be cautious with their offer. C.J. Spiller has made it pretty clear that he wants to be a featured running back, but the Bills figure to have Jackson in the mix for at least the coming years.
