ESPN’s Vaughn McClure notes that Neal’s option should cost the Falcons around $6.7 million for the 2020 season and will become fully guaranteed on the first day of 2020 league year.
Neal, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Falcons back in 2016. He’s entering in the fourth year of his four-year, $10,737,644 contract and stood to make a base salary of $1.914 million for the 2019 season.
Unfortunately, Neal suffered a season-ending ACL tear in Week 1 and was later placed on injured reserve.
In 2018, Neal appeared in one game and recorded two tackles for the Falcons.
