According to Vaughn McClure, the Falcons placed the original round tender on restricted free-agent RB Brian Hill.
The original-round tender will cost them $2.133 million for the 2020 season and give them the opportunity to match any offer he receives from another team.
McClure notes that Atlanta would receive a fifth-round pick as compensation for Hill if he signs an offer sheet to another team.
Hill, 24, is a former fifth-round by the Falcons in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Wyoming. He signed a four-year, $2.66 million contract but was added to their practice squad his rookie season.
The Bengals claimed him off Atlanta’s taxi squad in 2017 but was cut loose the following preseason.
He re-signed with the Falcons’ practice squad in September of 2018 and was quickly promoted to their active roster.
In 2019, Hill appeared in 12 games for the Falcons and recorded 78 rushing attempts for 323 yards (4.1 YPC) and two touchdowns.
