Final Season In Pittsburgh For NT Casey Hampton?

Gary Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writes that NT Casey Hampton is likely entering his final year with the Steelers.

Hampton is not only in the final year of his contract, but he’s currently on the team’s PUP list. He’ll be 35 in just a matter of weeks, so it seems pretty likely that the Steelers will be preparing someone else to take over at this time next year. Hampton believes Steve McLendon will likely be that guy, despite the fact that they used a fourth-round pick on Alameda Ta’amu in this year’s draft. Either way, the Steelers defense needs to get younger as they’ve maintain one of the oldest units for a number of years now.
