Free Agent RB DeMarco Murray Visiting Lions Monday

Adam Schefter reports that free agent RB DeMarco Murray is scheduled to visit Monday with the Detroit Lions.

This is the first reported interest in Murray since he became available last week.

The Lions clearly need a running back and GM Bob Quinn made it clear that addressing the position will be a priority for them this offseason.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Murray to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

Murray, 29, is a former third-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2011. He was entering the third year of his four-year, $25.5 million contract that included $12.5 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $6.25 million for the 2018 season when the Titans released him in a move that freed up $6.5 million of available cap space.

In 2017, Murray appeared in 15 games and rushed for 659 yards on 184 carries (3.6 YPC) to go along with 39 receptions for 266 yards receiving and seven total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 26 running back out of 58 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
