Current free-agent WR Rishard Matthews announced his retirement in an Instagram post on Monday.
Matthews was recently released by the Saints with a left squad designation.
Matthews, 28, is a former seventh-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2012. He spent four years in Miami before signing a three-year, $15 million contract with the Titans in 2016.
Matthews was set to make a base salary of $5 million for the 2018 season when he agreed to a new one-year extension worth a base value of $7.75M for the 2019 season. The Titans elected to cut him loose soon after, however, after he requested his release from the team.
Matthews later caught on with the Jets and played out the rest of the season in New York. The Jets let him leave as an unrestricted free agent and he eventually signed on with the Saints in June.
Over the course of his seven-year career, Matthews caught 230 passes for 3,160 yards (13.7 YPC) and 21 touchdowns.
