The New York Giants officially designated OLB Kareem Martin to return from injured reserve on Wednesday.
This officially opens a three-week window of time for Martin to practice with the team before New York will need to add him to their active roster.
The Giants placed Martin on injured reserve back in September with a sprained knee.
Martin, 27, is a former third-round draft pick by the Cardinals out of North Carolina back in 2014. He finished out his four-year, $2,843,560 rookie contract and made a base salary of $710,000 in 2017.
Martin signed with the Giants on a three-year, $15 million deal in 2018 after testing unrestricted free agency for the first time in his career.
In 2018, Martin played in all 16 games for the Giants and recorded 48 total tackles, 1.5 sacks and two pass defenses.
