Art Stapleton reports that the Giants have expressed interest in former Chargers free agent OL D.J. Fluker.
- Jordan Raanan reports that Giants have a visit scheduled with Fluker, but the Patriots have “strong interest” in him.
Fluker has reportedly generated a lot of interest since entering free agency with seven other teams mentions being in the market for him, including theย Saints, Lions, Seahawks, Colts, Vikings, Cardinals and Falcons.
Itโs worth mentioning that signing him to a contract wonโt impact a teamโs compensatory picks, considering that he was released.
Fluker began his career as an offensive tackle before moving to guard in recent years, so he offers some position versatility.
Fluker, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Chargers back in 2013. He played out his four-year, $11,402,498 contract before the Chargers elected to pick up his fifth-year option worth $8.821 million for the 2017 season.
Unfortunately, the Chargers released him in a move that freed up $8,821,000 of available cap space while creating no dead money.
In 2016, Fluker appeared in all 16 games for the Chargers and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 54 guard out of 72 qualifying players.
