According to Mike Garofolo, DeGuglielmo has been consulting for teams recently and previously interviewed with the Giants before they hired Colombo.

Giants HC Joe Judge worked with DeGuglielmo in New England so there are obvious ties to the team.

Ian Rapoport mentions that Judge has spent more time working with the offensive line in recent weeks. Rapoport adds that Judge brought up the idea of bringing in DeGuglielmo to consult with Colombo. However, when told of the plan, Colombo did not take it well told Judge as much.

This is when the Giants made the decision to move on.

The Giants’ offensive line has been disappointing this year and first-round pick Andrew Thomas hasn’t shown much development over the first 10 weeks of the season. Although, the unit had looked better in recent weeks.

Football Outsiders have the Giants’ offensive line ranked No. 32 overall in 2020.
