Fallon Smith of CSNย Bay Areaย reports that the Giants are signing veteran WR James Jones to a one-year contract.

  • According to Smith, Jones will be in New York on Friday to finalize the deal.
  • Ian Rapoport confirms that Jones will be signing a one-year deal with the Giants, and adds that Jones chose to sign with New York over the Eagles, Chiefs, Seahawks and Bengals.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Giants are hosting free agentย WR James Jones for a visit.

  • According to Rapoport, the two sides are both hoping that this leads to a signing.

There’s an obvious connection here with former Packers QBs coach Ben McAdoo now the Giants’ offensive coordinator.

Just a month ago, Jones toldย Sirius XM NFL Radioย thatย theย Chiefs, Giants, Jaguars, andย Seahawks as teams that would make sense as potential options for him.

Jones, 31, signed a three-year contract worthย $10ย million with the Raiders back in 2014.ย However, he released by Oakland in a move that clearedย $3,433,333 in available cap space.

In 2014, Jones appeared inย all 16 games for the Raiders and caught 73 passes for 666 yards receiving and six touchdowns.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 89 receiverย out of 110 qualifying players.
