According to Jordan Raanan, the Giants will place LB Kareem Martin on injured reserve.
Martin sprained his knee in Sunday’s season opener and HC Pat Shurmur told reporters his timeline was a matter of weeks.
Martin, 27, is a former third-round draft pick by the Cardinals out of North Carolina back in 2014. He finished out his four-year, $2,843,560 rookie contract and made a base salary of $710,000 in 2017.
Martin signed with the Giants on a three-year, $15 million deal in 2018 after testing unrestricted free agency for the first time in his career.
In 2018, Martin played in all 16 games for the Giants and recorded 48 total tackles, 1.5 sacks and two pass defenses.
