According to Art Stapleton, the Giants are signing WR Amba Etta-Tawo to their 90-man training camp roster.
The Giants were expected to sign a receiver after Corey Coleman sustained a torn ACL, Sterling Shepard suffered a broken thumb, and Golden Tate suspended for violating the league’s PED policy.
Etta-Tawo, 25, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Syracuse back in 2017. He was among Jacksonville’s final roster cuts coming out of the preseason and signed onto their practice squad.
The Jaguars cut him loose after a couple of weeks and he caught on with the Chiefs’ practice squad. Kansas City released him after a month and the Giants later signed him to their practice squad in December of 2017.
New York re-signed him to a futures contract and, once again, re-signed him to their practice squad after waiving him. He later signed on with the Texans’ taxi squad last December but was cut after a month.
He has yet to appear in an NFL game.
During his three-year college career, Etta-Tawo recorded 124 receptions for 1,920 yards receiving (15.5 YPC) and 15 touchdowns.
