Rush, 26, went undrafted out of Central Michigan back in 2017. He later signed a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Cowboys and managed to make the 53-man roster all three seasons.
Rush signed his $2.1 million restricted free agent offer after being tendered by the Cowboys this offseason. He was later waived and claimed by the Giants before agreeing to a restructured deal. He was still cut and signed to the practice squad.
For his career, Rush has appeared in five games for the Cowboys, completing one of three pass attempts for two yards. He has also rushed for 13 yards.
Smith, 28, originally signed on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State back in 2016. He was on and off of the Seahawks’ practice squad before the Cowboys claimed him off of waivers during the 2015 season.
Smith spent the past three seasons with the Cowboys before signing with the Giants in 2018. He had brief stints with the Raiders and Titans last year before re-signing a one-year deal with Las Vegas this offseason.
The Raiders activated him from their COVID-19 list last month, but he was cut coming out of camp. The Giants signed him to their practice squad.
In 2018, Smith appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and rushed for 127 yards on 44 carries (2.9 YPC) to go along with nine receptions for 60 yards receiving and one touchdown.
