According to Field Yates, the Giants have restructured TE Rhett Ellison‘s contract, converting $1.876 million of his base salary into a signing bonus.
The move creates $938,382 in cap space, which allows the Giants to fit recent trade acquisition Leonard Williams under their cap.
Ellison, 31, was drafted by the Vikings in the fourth round out of USC in 2012. He played out his four-year, $2.4 million rookie contract that included a $300,584 signing bonus.
The Vikings re-signed Ellison to a one-year, $2.25 million contract back in 2016. He signed with the Giants in 2017 on a four-year, $18 million deal.
In 2019, Ellison has appeared in eight games for the Giants and caught 13 passes for 108 yards receiving and one touchdown.
