Giants To Release K Aldrick Rosas

According to Mike Garafolo, the Giants are planning to release K Aldrick Rosas soon.

Aldrick Rosas

Rosas was recently charged with three misdemeanors stemming from a hit-and-run incident earlier this summer. It was his second brush with the law following a DUI incident in 2016, so it’s not surprising New York has decided to look elsewhere.

Rosas was the only kicker on New York’s roster, so expect them to sign a replacement shortly.

The Giants placed a second-round tender on Rosas earlier this offseason. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2018.

Releasing Rosas frees up $3.259 million in cap space for the Giants, per Over The Cap.

Rosas, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Oregon back 2017. He was unfortunately waived by Tennessee coming out of the preseason and never signed to a team’s practice squad during the regular season.

The Giants signed Rosas to a futures contract for the 2018 season and he went on to have a Pro Bowl season. He re-signed as an exclusive rights free agent in 2019.

Rosas was set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2021.

In 2019, Rosas converted 12 of 17 field-goal attempts (70.6 percent) to go along with 35 of 39 extra-point tries (89.7 percent)
