Giants Waive DE Owa Odighizuwa

The New York Giants have placed DE Owa Odighizuwa on waivers Tuesday.

This comes just a day after Odighizuwa was suspended for the first four games of the 2017 season for violating the league’s PED policy.

Odighizuwa didn’t attend the team’s minicamp and posted a tweet in which he hinted at possibly retiring from the NFL. However, he later clarified that he wasn’t walking away from football.

Odighizuwa, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Giants back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $3.16 million rookie contract that included a $740,500 signing bonus and stands to make base salaries of $615,000 and $705,000 over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2016, Odighizuwa appeared in 14 games for the Giants and recorded three tackles, no sacks and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 170 total snaps last season.
