Giants HC Pat Shurmur confirmed the team plans to activate CB Sam Beal before Wednesday’s deadline, per Pat Leonard.
The team announced it waived S Sean Chandler to clear a spot for Beal.
Beal was designated to return from injured reserve three weeks ago and he’s been practicing with the team since then. Beal has yet to play for the Giants since being selected in last year’s supplemental draft.
Beal, 23, was selected in the third round of last year’s supplemental draft. He signed a four-year, $4.08 million contract that included a $1,048,940 signing bonus.
Unfortunately, Beal spent his rookie season on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
Beal recorded 92 tackles, two tackles for a loss, two interceptions, 19 pass defenses and a forced fumble over the course of three seasons at Western Michigan and 32 games played.
