The New York Giants announced Monday that WR Amba Etta-Tawo suffered a torn Achilles during practice.
It was clear that this was a major injury for Atta-Tawo, as he was carted off of the practice field on Monday.
It would not be surprising to see the Giants add another receiver in the coming days, given that they continue to deal with injuries at the position.
Etta-Tawo, 25, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Syracuse back in 2017. He was among Jacksonville’s final roster cuts coming out of the preseason and signed onto their practice squad.
The Jaguars cut him loose after a couple of weeks and he had a brief stint with the Chiefs before the Giants signed him to a futures contract. New York cut him loose last year only to bring him a few weeks ago.
He has yet to appear in an NFL game.
During his three-year college career, Etta-Tawo recorded 124 receptions for 1,920 yards receiving (15.5 YPC) and 15 touchdowns.
