Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Jaguars free agent CB Aaron Colvin will have a “legit market” for his services in the coming weeks and that should be “muchย more active than one would think.”
Earlier in the day,ย Hays Carlyon of Gridiron Now mentioned that he doesn’t expect the Jaguars to re-sign Colvin this offseason, given that they’ll be tighter in terms of their cap space than the past few years.
Jacksonville could end up franchising WR Allen Robinson, which would cost them around $16 million fully guaranteed for the 2018 season.
Colvin is one of the best slotย cornerbacks in the NFL, so it won’t be surprising to see him get the kind of offers that would be tough for the Jaguars to match.
Colvin, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2,673,152 contract and is now in position to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2017, Colvin appeared in all 16 games for the Jaguars and recorded 45 tackles, no interceptions, a fumble recovery and five pass defenses.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 47 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.
We have him featured in our Top 100 ย โ 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
