Jaguars CB Josh Robinson Retires

The Jaguars announced that veteran CB Josh Robinson informed the team Wednesday that he would be retiring.

“He’s obviously put some thought into it,” Jaguars HC Doug Marrone said. “I have all the respect in the world for him – tough kid, practiced hard, prepared like a pro … nothing but the best for him. We’re always here for him. Appreciate him.”

Robinson signed with the Jaguars early in training camp and was active for every game this season, though he played sparingly and mostly on special teams. He had two tackles in eight games this year.

Robinson, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Vikings back in 2012. He played out the final year of his four-year, $3.015 million rookie contract with the Vikings before signing a one-year contract with the Buccaneers in 2016.

Tampa elected to re-sign Robinson to a two-year, $6.5 million contract in 2017, but he was unfortunately among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

The Saints later signed him to a contract in 2018 and he bounced on and off the roster for the rest of the year.

In eight seasons, Robinson appeared in 93 games and recorded 148 total tackles, two forced fumbles, five interceptions and 15 pass defenses.
