Ian Rapoport reports that the Jaguars are promoting RB Brandon Wilds to their active roster on Saturday.
This is interesting, considering that RB Leonard Fournette‘s status for Week 2 is in question, due to a hamstring injury.
Wilds, 25, wound up signing on with the Falcons as undrafted free agent out of South Carolina back in 2016. He had brief stints with the Jets and Browns before he was waived from injured reserve with a settlement at the start of the 2017 season.
Wilds later signed on to the Jaguars’ practice squad and returned to Jacksonville this past January on a futures contract. The Jaguars waived him coming out of the preseason before re-signing him to their taxi squad.
In 2016, Wilds appeared in four games and rushed for 27 yards on 10 carries to go along with two receptions for 20 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
During his college career at South Carolina, Wilds ran for 1,844 yards on 379 career carries (4.87 YPC) and 13 touchdowns to go along with 59 receptions.
