Adam Schefter, citing a source with knowledge of the situation, reports that Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette is expected to return for the team’s Week 10 matchup with the Colts.
Schefter says that Fournette’s injury issues are a major reason the Jaguars traded a fifth-round draft pick to the Browns for running back Carlos Hyde last week.
Jacksonville plans to employ a power running attack, but the injury to Fournette forced them to go in a different direction, which explains why they were willing to bring in Hyde, who is under contract for another two seasons beyond 2018.
Fournette, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2017. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $27.15 million contract that’s fully guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $1.69 million for the 2018 season.
In 2018, Fournette has appeared in one game and rushed for 41 yards on 9 carries (4.6 YPC) to go along with three receptions for 14 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
We’ll have more regarding Fournette as the news is available.
