Jaguars Release RB Jamaal Charles, Promote LB Nick DeLuca

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Monday that they’ve released RB Jamaal Charles and promoted LB Nick DeLuca to their active roster.

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the Jaguars moved on from Charles after their recent trade for Carlos Hyde. Jacksonville clearly plans to move forward with Hyde, T.J. Yeldon and Leonard Fournetteas their top-three backs once Fournette returns from a hamstring injury.

Charles, 31, is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2008. After nine years in Kansas City, the Chiefs released him last year and he later signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Broncos.

The Jaguars signed Charles to a contract a few weeks ago.

In 2018, Charles appeared in two games for the Jaguars ans rushed for seven yards on six carries (1.2 YPC) to go along with two receptions for seven yards receiving and no touchdowns.
