Jaguars Tried Out Six Including OL Menelik Watson

According to Howard Balzer, the Jacksonville Jaguars brought in six free agents for tryouts on Tuesday including OL Menelik Watson.

The full list of trouts for the Jaguars includes:

  1. LB Martrell Spaight
  2. DT Joey Mbu
  3. DEGeneo Grissom
  4. DT David Parry
  5. DT Elijah Qualls
  6. OL Menelik Watson

Of this group, the Jaguars signed Spaight to their active roster.

Watson, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Raiders back in 2013. He played the final year of his four-year, $4.15 million rookie contract before signing a three-year deal worth $18.3 million with the Broncos in 2016.

Watson was set to make a base salary of $5.5 million for the 2018 season when the Broncos released him from their injured reserve.

Since becoming a free agent, Watson has worked out for the Patriots, Jets and Bears.

In 2017, Watson appeared in seven games for the Broncos and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 76 offensive tackle out of 79 qualifying players.

Parry, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Colts back in 2015. He lasted just over two years in Indianapolis before he was waived coming out of the preseason and later signed to the Saints’ practice squad.

New Orleans promoted Parry to their active roster a few weeks into the regular season before placing him on injured reserve soon after. The Vikings signed Parry to a one-year contract back in March and he’s been on and off of the team’s roster this season.

In 2018, Parry has appeared in two games for the Vikings and recorded two tackles and a sack.
