Jaguars Won’t Trade QB Nick Foles

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Jaguars have no plans to trade QB Nick Foles despite the emergence of sixth-round rookie QB Gardner Minshew

Fowler says the Jaguars, currently 4-4 and in the thick of the playoff race in the AFC, like the idea of having a Super Bowl-winning quarterback on their roster and want to keep it that way.

Foles signed with the Jaguars this offseason on a four-year deal worth $88 million, but suffered a broken left clavicle during his debut in Week 1 and was placed on injured reserve.

Minshew has held down the fort for Jacksonville while Foles has been out. The Jaguars designated Foles to return from injured reserve last week and will soon have a decision to make on who the starter will be.

Foles, 30, is a former third-round pick of the Eagles back in 2012. Philadelphia traded Foles to the Rams back in 2015 in a deal for QB Sam Bradford and he later signed an extension with the team.

Foles lasted just over a year with the Rams before he was released and later signed to a two-year, $11 million contract with the Eagles. He was set to make a base salary of $4 million in 2018 when he agreed to a restructured contract this offseason and later bought his free agency by paying back $2 million to the Eagles.

From there, Foles agreed to a four-year, $88 million contract with the Jaguars that included $50.125 million guaranteed.

In 2018, Foles appeared in four games and thrown for 1,192 yards while completing 69.8 percent of his passes to go along with five touchdowns and three interceptions.

We’ll have more on Foles as the news is available.
