Jeremy Maclin Confident They’ll Get An Extension Done Before Free Agency

Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin said he’s confident that a long-term extension will get done before the start of free agency.

When the time’s right, it’ll get done,” Maclin said after practice Tuesday, via Reuben Frank of CSN Philly. “Both sides have made it clear that they want me to be here. They want me to be here, I want to be here. This is the place I want to be.

“As long as we can agree to something, this is where I want to be. If something else happens, that’s what happens, but I try not to get caught up in that.”

Maclin suffered a torn ACL last year that cost him the entire 2013 season. Philadelphia was reportedly open to signing him to a multi-year agreement, but he decided to settle for a one-year, $5.5 million contract that included $3.5 million guaranteed with the hope of securing an even better contract next year.

Maclin, 26, has put together an impressive 2014 campaign in which he’s caught 82 passes for 1,269 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns over the course of 15 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 10 receiver in the league.

There’s no question that Maclin would be among the most sought after free agents next March if he were to be available. However, it sounds like his focus to remain in Philadelphia and get a contract hammered out in the coming months.

“Why wouldn’t I want to be here? This is a place that drafted me and I want to end my career here,” Maclin said. “If we can get something done here when the time is right, then that’s going to happen.”

We have Maclin listed as the No. 13 player in our Top 25 – 2015 Free Agents list.
