The New York Jets announced Thursday that they’ve activated CB Blessuan Austin from the NFI list and waived LB B.J. Bello.
Austin, 23, was selected in the sixth round of this year’s draft by the Jets. He signed a four-year, $2.7 million contract before being placed on the non-football injury list coming out of the preseason.
Austin recently returned to practice, which opened up a multi-week window of time for New York to activate him.
During his four-year college career at Rutgers, Austin recorded 89 tackles, two sacks, four interceptions, a defensive touchdown, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble over the course of 25 games.
