According to Josina Anderson, the Jets are hosting free agent WR Allen Hurns for a visit on Wednesday.

This is the first reported interest in Hurns since he became available Tuesday. He’s expected to have a strong market for his services, so it’s possible he could end up making multiple visits.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Hurns to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

Hurns, 26, signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Miami back in 2014. He was in the final year of his rookie contract when the Jaguars signed him to a five-year, $40.6 million deal that included $20 million guaranteed in 2016.

Hurns was set to make base salaries of $6.9 million and $7.9 million over the next two years of the agreement when the Jaguars released him in a move that freed up $7 million of available cap space.

In 2017, Hurns appeared in 10 games for the Jaguars and caught 39 passes for 484 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 23 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
