Brian Costello reports that the Jets are not activating LB Kevin Pierre-Louis‘ contract option for 2019, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Costello notes that the Jets create $2 million in cap space by declining his option.
Pierre-Louis, 27, was originally a fourth-round pick by the Seahawks in the 2014 NFL Draft out of Boston College. The Chiefs traded LB D.J. Alexander to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for Pierre-Louis.
He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.605 million contract with the Chiefs and signed a two-year, $6 million contract with the Jets that included $2.5 million guaranteed.
In 2018, Pierre-Louis appeared in nine games for the Jets and recorded six total tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble.
