Jets Discussing Potential Run At Signing CB Logan Ryan

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Jets have had internal discussions about freeing up some money to possibly sign free agent CB Logan Ryan.

Mehta mentions that Ryan would give Jets DC Gregg Williams an invaluable chess piece to work with, given his versatility.

As of now, the Jets have around $10 million of cap space to work with, but have another $11 million coming on June 1 from the Trumaine Johnson release. Even so, the Jets are reportedly discussing options to free up more cap room now that would allow them to bring in Ryan.

Back in March, Ian Rapoport reported that Ryan is looking for at least $10 million per year in a deal from a team, which is the same amount he made last year.

Rapoport adds Ryan is open to entertaining all offers and would consider a short-term deal.

Ryan, 29, is a former third-round pick of the Patriots back in 2013. He has played out his four-year, $2,773,252 contract with the Patriots before agreeing to a three-year, $30 million contract with the Titans in 2017.

Ryan made base salaries of $10 million and $9.5 million the past two seasons.

In 2019, Ryan appeared in all 16 games for the Titans and recorded 113 tackles, 4.5 sacks, four interceptions, four forced fumbles and 18 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 62 cornerback out of 113 qualifying players.

We have him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
