ESPN’s Adam Caplan reports that the Jets are expected to sign former Chiefs ILB Joe Mays to a contract.
- According to Caplan, the two sides are expected to have an agreement in place by early next week.
- Earlier in the week,ย Caplanย reportedly thatย the Jets wereย interested in possibly signingย Mays to a contract.
This comes just a fewย days after a report mentioned that the Jets were signing LB Erin Henderson to a contract, so it appears as though the Jets are looking to bolster their linebacker depth ahead of the draft.
Mays met with the Chargers last month shortly after he was released by the Chiefs in a move thatย freed upย $2.7 million in available cap space.
Mays, 28,ย unfortunately sustained aย wrist injury back in early September that forced Kansas City to place him on injured reserve with the designationย to return.
In 2014, Mays appeared inย eight games and recorded 20 tackles and a fumble recovery for the Chiefs.ย Pro Football Focusย has himย down for playingย 122 total snaps last year.
