Jets Looking To Trade Into Early Part Of Round Two

Update:

Manish Mehta confirms reports that some teams believe the Jets have explored making a big jump into the 2nd round because they want one of the top remaining cornerbacks including Byron Murphy, Greedy Williams, Rock Ya-Sin and Lonnie Johnson.

Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo a reporting that the Jets are looking to trade up from round three and into the early part of the second round.

Rapoport mentions that this move would require the Jets to part with “significant” capital in terms of future draft picks.

Tony Pauline reported earlier that the Jets were attempting to trade into the top 10 picks of round two, likely for an edge rusher.

Garafolo mentions that New York is at least exploring the possibility and making calls to teams. Garafolo’s educated guess is that the Jets are trying to get an edge rusher, which fits with Pauline’s earlier report.

It would be interesting to see the Jets go this route, seeing as they had been trying to acquire more mid-round selections.

For what it’s worth, some of the best edge rushers still on the board include La Tech’s Jaylon Ferguson, Michigan’s Chase Winovich and Florida’s Jachai Polite.
