According to Manish Mehta, the Jets are closing in on a deal to bring back LB Jordan Jenkins.
Ian Rapoport reports the Jets were able to close the deal for one year and $5 million to bring Jenkins back.
Mehta adds getting to play another year with DC Gregg Williams was a major factor in his return.
Jenkins was New York’s leading pass rusher last season and had been testing the market as an unrestricted free agent.
The Giants had also been linked to Jenkins but it appears that the veteran will stay with the New York team he’s more familiar with.
Jenkins, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Jets back in 2016. He played out the final year of his four-year, $3.12 million contract and is now in line to be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career.
In 2019, Jenkins appeared in 14 games for the Jets and recorded 32 tackles, eight sacks, two forced fumbles, and three pass defenses.
We have him included in our Top 100 – 2020 Free Agents list.
