The New York Jets officially placed TE Bucky Hodges on the left squad list Tuesday.
Teams typically add players to the left squad list after they’ve made the decision to retire from the NFL.
Hodges, 23, is a former sixth-round of the Vikings back in 2017. He signed a four-year, $2.55-million contract with the Vikings but was waived with an injury designation coming out of the preseason.
Minnesota eventually cut Hodges loose a few weeks later and he would go on to have brief stints with the Panthers, Bills and Jets before the Steelers signed him to a contract last August.
Hodges was released by the Steelers in April and caught on with the Jets back in August. He was later placed on injured reserve.
During his college career at Virginia Tech, Hodges caught 133 passes for 1,747 yards receiving and 20 touchdowns to go along with 89 rushing and 21 total touchdowns over the course of 39 games.
