According to Rich Cimini, the Jets are promoting LB Freddie Bishop from their practice squad to the active roster.
Bishop, 26, originally signed on with the Lions as an undrafted free agent out of Western Michigan back in 2013. He lasted just over a month in Detroit before he was waived.
He later joined the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL and played there for three seasons.
The Jets signed Bishop to a two-year, $995,000 contract that included a $5,000 signing bonus back in February. He stands to make a base salary of $450,00 this season.
He has yet to appear during an NFL game.
During his three seasons with Calgary, Bishop recorded 60 tackles, 14 sacks, a forced fumble and a pass defense.
