The New York Jets announced Friday that they’ve released RB Valentine Holmes from their practice squad.
Brian Costello mentions that it sounds like Holmes will return to the National Rugby League in Australia.
Hereโs the Jets updated practice squad:
- WR Jeff Smith
- WR Josh Malone
- QB Mike White
- DL Bronson Kaufusi
- DE Corbin Kaufusi
- LB Ukeme Eligwe
- LB Jamey Mosley
- OL James Murray
- OL Ben Braden
- C Ryan Crozier
Holmes (6’1″, 200), is listed as a running back/wide receiver/kick returner. He joined the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks at 17 years old and made his professional debut at 19.
Holmes represented Australia in the 2017 Rugby World Cup and scored five tries in the quarterfinals and six tries in the semis.
The Jets signed Holmes this past January as part of the International Player Pathway program that was instituted by the NFL in 2017 as a way to grow the game of football.
After being waived at the start of the regular season, the Jets re-signed him to their practice squad.
