The New York Jets announced the release of seven players Saturday night ahead of the deadline for teams to get down to 75 players.
Among the players cut were: OT Bruce Campbell, LB Steele Divitto, OL Patrick Ford, K Andrew Furney, P Jacob Schum, RB Michael Smith and OL Markus Zusevics.
Campbell, 26, is probably the most notable player in this group. He signed with the Jets a few weeks ago and is a former fourth-round selection of the Oakland Raiders.
Earlier in this offseason, he appeared to have signed a deal with the Redskins, however the agreement was later voided. Campbell actually tried out for the Jets back in June, but he left without a contract.
Smith, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2012. The Jets signed him to a contract at the start of August, but he was a long-shot to make the team given New Yorkโs running back depth.
