The New York Jets announced the release of seven players Saturday night ahead of the deadline for teams to get down to 75 players.
Among the players cut were: OT Bruce Campbell, LB Steele Divitto, OL Patrick Ford, K Andrew Furney, P Jacob Schum, RB Michael Smith and OL Markus Zusevics.
Campbell, 26, is probably the most notable player in this group. He signed with the Jets a few weeks agoย and isย a former fourth-round selection of the Oakland Raiders.
Earlier in this offseason, he appeared to have signed a deal with the Redskins, however theย agreement was later voided.ย Campbell actually tried out for the Jets back in June, butย he left without a contract.
Smith, 26, is a formerย seventh-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2012. The Jets signed him to a contract at the start of August, but he was a long-shot to make the team given New York’s running back depth.
