Jets Request Interview With Buccaneers OC Todd Monken

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Buccaneers have requested permission to interview Buccaneers OC Todd Monken for their head-coaching job.

This brings the requested interviews for the Jets to:

  • Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy (Requested, NFLTR)
  • Cowboys passing game coordinator/DBs coach Kris Richard (Requested, NFLTR)
  • Buccaneers OC Todd Monken

Reports had said that Monken was expected to garner head-coaching interest, even though they fired HC Dirk Koetter.

Monken oversaw one of the best passing attacks in the NFL, which could be appealing for a Jets team looking to improve their offense.

Monken, 52, began his coaching career back in 1989 as an assistant at Grand Valley State. His first NFL coaching job came with the Jaguars in 2007 as their WRs coach.

After a few years at Oklahoma State, Monken was hired as Southern Miss’ head coach for the 2013 season. He spent three years in the position before joining the Buccaneers as their offensive coordinator in 2016.

In 2018, the Buccaneers ranked No. 3 in total yards, No. 12 in points scored, No. 29 in rushing yards and No. 3 in passing yards.
