Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jets have requested interviews with Eagles VP player personnel Joe Douglas and Bears assistant director of player personnel Champ Kelly for their GM vacancy.
Douglas has been considered the name to watch for the Jets for close to a month now. However, Mike Garafolo says that Kelly should not be discounted for this job, given that he was with Adam Gase in Denver and Chicago.
Other names linked to the Jets’ job include Adam Peters (49ers), Lance Newmark (Lions) and George Paton (Vikings).
Douglas began working for the Ravens in their personnel department in 2000 and spent 15 years with the organization.
The Bears hired him as their director of college scouting for the 2015 season.
Douglas spent one year in Chicago before joining the Eagles as their vice president of player personnel the following year.
Kelly began working for the Broncos as a regional college scout in 2007 and eventually worked his way up to assistant director of pro personnel in 2011. He left the Broncos to join the Bears as their director of pro scouting in 2015.
We’ll have more regarding the Jets’ GM search as the news is available.
