The New York Jets announced Thursday that they’ve signed LBย Micah Awe to a futures contract for the 2018 season.
As of now, the Jets have signed 12 players to futures deals including:
- G Ben Braden
- T Korren Kirven

- WR Tre McBride
- DL Claude Pelon
- DB Terrell Sinkfield
- QB Joel Stave
- WR Damore’ea Stringfellow
- WR Daniel Williams
- RBย Jeremy Langford

- LBย Micah Awe
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Awe, 24, wound up signing on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech back in 2016. He was waived coming out of the preseason and later signed to the Buccaneers’ practice squad.
However, the Bucs cut Awe loose a week later and he eventually signed on with the BC Lions of the CFL.
During his one year in the CFL, Awe recorded 54 tackles, no sacks and a forced fumble over the course of 18 games.
