Jets Waive TE Neal Sterling

The New York Jets announced Thursday that they’ve placed TE Neal Sterling on waivers.

There was no corresponding roster move announced along with Sterling’s release, which could be an indication that they plan to activate Jalin Marshall from the exempt list.

Sterling, 25, is a former seventh-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2015. He was waived at the start of the 2015 season and later signed to the team’s practice squad, but he managed to make the 53-man roster last year.

The Jets signed Sterling to a contract after the Jaguars waived him coming out of the preseason.

In 2017, Sterling has appeared in three games and caught one pass for eight yards and no touchdowns.
