The New York Jets announced that they’ve waived WR DeAngelo Yancey and OT Dieugot Joseph on Tuesday and claimed WR Xavier Ubosi and OT Calvin Anderson off waivers from the Patriots.
Yancey, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the Packers back in 2017. He signed a four-year, $2.62 million contract but was waived by Green Bay at the start of the 2017 season.
Yancey later re-signed to the Packers’ practice squad and returned to Green Bay on a futures contract. However, he was cut loose coming out of the preseason and later signed on to the Jets’ practice squad.
New York brought Yancey back on a futures contract this past January.
During his four-year college career at Purdue, Yancey caught 141 passes for 2,344 yards receiving (16.6 YPR) and 20 touchdowns for the Boilermakers.
Joseph, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Florida International back in May of 2017. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Bears cut him loose coming out of the preseason and later signed him to their practice squad.
Joseph spent a few months on the Ravens’ practice squad before he was released a few weeks ago and later signed by the Vikings to their taxi squad. Minnesota brought him back on a futures contract this past January only to waive him during the preseason.
Joseph had a brief stint on the Jets’ practice squad in 2018. The Jets signed him to a futures deal in early 2019.
Joseph has yet to appear in an NFL game.
Ubosi, 25, signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of UAB. During his college career, he caught 48 passes for 1065 yards and nine touchdowns.
