Jets Greg McElroy Tried To Hide His Concussion?

According to several Jets players, quarterback Greg McElroy hid from the coaching staff that he had been experiencing concussion-like symptoms all week, per Jane McManus of ESPNNewYork.com.

“He didn’t look exactly right at the beginning of the day,” Jets quarterback Tim Tebow said, via McManus. “So it wasn’t long when we heard he went to the trainers and we heard what happened.”

McElroy was faced with a tough decision to make as this Sunday’s game against the Bills could’ve been the last opportunity he had to start in the NFL. He ultimately did the smart thing for his long-term health by telling the coaching staff what he was experiencing.

Jets head coach Rex Ryan told reporters that Mark Sanchez will get the start for Week 17’s game against the Buffalo Bills, per Manish Mehta.

Greg McElroy reportedly experienced headaches while lifting weights on Thursday, so Ryan decided to hold him out of this week’s game as a precautionary measure. McElroy was diagnosed with a concussion on Thursday.

Ryan added that; “Obviously Tim [Tebow]’s not happy with that.

Just in case you thought the drama was finally over in regards to the Jets’ quarterback position, Sanchez gets another opportunity start in the final game of the season. Ryan must feel that it’s almost impossible to have Tebow prepared to play against Buffalo or he’s just worried that things could actually get worse if Tebow were to start. This could end up being Sanchez’s final start for the Jets, but his contract would suggest that he’ll at least be back as a backup next season.

  1. This, along with every move that the JETS have made this season, is again “LAUGHABLE” at best…. What? Did Sanchez all of a sudden learn to play quarterback , and throw completions at above 50% ??

  2. If this was a Jets home game fans would root for Buffalo. Lucky for Rex and Mark they can lose in 10 degree temps and start golf season on Monday.
