According to Jason La Canfora, former Chiefs GM John Dorsey is expected to be a “very hot” candidate for GM vacancies in the coming weeks.
La Canfora mentions that the Browns and Giants among others are expected to inquire about Dorsey.
The Giants are the first to have a GM opening now that they’ve made the decision to fire long-time GM Jerry Reese on Monday. Overall, the Giants’ job should be pretty attractive to top candidates, considering that they do have talent to build around and will end up with a top-three draft pick that they can use on a quarterback of the future.
As for the Browns, reports have said for months now that they could bring in a proven NFL executive with a history of finding talent to add to their front office, so you can expect to hear of a number of names being linked to them in the coming months.
Dorsey, 57, was hired as the Chiefs GM back in 2013 and paired him with HC Andy Reid. However, the Chiefs surprisingly fired Dorsey this summer, even though he had done a pretty good job in terms of player acquisition.
Reports later surfaced that there were concerns about regarding his internal communication and management styles.
During his four years with the Chiefs, Dorsey’s teams had a record of 43-21 (67.2 percent), which includes three playoff appearances.
