Josh McDaniels Still Expected To Draw “Considerable Interest” For HC Jobs Next Year

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Patriots OC Josh McDaniels is expected to draw “considerable interest” for head-coaching jobs again next year, despite backing out on an agreement with the Colts.

La Canfora explains that McDaniels is considered to be one of the brightest offensive minds in football and with a number of teams looking for someone to develop young quarterbacks, McDaniels will have options this offseason.

After speaking with decision-makers on several teams expecting to hire new coaches in 2019, La Canfora came away with the belief that there will be “no shortage of potential interest” in McDaniels, even after what took place with the Colts last year.

There is still speculation that McDaniels could be the Patriots’ head coach-in-waiting, depending on what happens with Bill Belichick, but it sounds like he’ll once again have plenty of interest from prospective teams.

McDaniels, 42, began his NFL coaching career with the Patriots as a personnel assistant back in 2001. He worked his way up to offensive coordinator in New England before he departed for the Broncos head-coaching job in 2009.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go very well for McDaniels with the Broncos and he was fired during his second year with the team.

After a brief stint with the Rams as their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, McDaniels returned to the Patriots and has been running their offense ever since.

We’ll have more regarding McDaniels as the news is available.
