Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that RB Kalen Ballage failed his physical for the Jets due to a hamstring injury and will now revert back to the Dolphins.
Rapoport says Miami will likely waive Ballage again in the coming days, but he could still return to the Jets once healthy.
Ballage, 24, is a former fourth-round pick by the Dolphins in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Arizona State. He was entering the third year of his four-year, $3 million rookie contract.
Miami had initially planned to release Ballage but the Jets swooped in with an offer before he could be placed on waivers. New York agreed to send a conditional 2021 seventh-round pick to Miami in exchange for Ballage.
In 2019, Ballage appeared in 12 games and recorded 74 rushing attempts for 135 yards (1.8 YPC) and three touchdowns to go along with 14 receptions for 63 yards receiving (4.5 YPC).
