ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Saints are officially releasing WR Lance Moore Friday.

Saints WR Lance Moore has tweeted a good bye to the city of New Orleans on Friday.

Yesterday, Adam Schefter reported that the Saints were fielding offers for Moore and a few other players, but his base salary of $3.1 million and the fact that he’s deal with injuries most likely left the Saints no options other than releasing him.

Moore, 30, signed a five-year contract worth $20 million that included $7 million guaranteed two years ago. Releasing him should free up close to $2.53 million in available cap space.

Last season, Moore caught 65 passes for 1,041 and six touchdowns, but his production dropped off considerably this year, which resulted in rookie Kenny Stills nearly doubling his number of snaps played.
