Here’s a collection of reports regarding Broncos free agent CB Chris Harris Jr from this afternoon:
- According to Aaron Wilson, the Jets have shown interest in Harris but it remains to be seen whether a deal will come together.
- Meanwhile, Troy Renck reports that the Chargers and Eagles are pushing to sign Harris and the Lions were attempting to get him under contract last night.
- Calvin Watkins hears the Chargers and Saints are in the mix for Harris and while the Cowboys, Jets and Raiders also had interest, things have changed from their end.
Despite several rounds of negotiations, Harris and the Broncos were unable to come to an agreement on an extension in 2019. Denver was reportedly shopping him for a second-round pick at the trade deadline last season.
Harris, 30, wound up signing on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas back in 2011. He has played all seven years of his NFL career in Denver.
Harris was entering the final year of his five-year, $42.5 million contract that included a $10 million signing bonus and was set to make a base salary of $7.8 million for the 2019 season when Denver signed him to a new, one-year, $12.05 million deal last offseason.
In 2019, Harris appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos and recorded 56 total tackles, one forced fumble, one interception and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 34 cornerback out of 113 qualifying players.
