According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Falcons and agent Drew Rosenhaus are meeting in Atlanta today to discuss an extension for LB Deion Jones.
Ledbetter writes that the Falcons and Jones could agree to a new deal by the end of business today.
This is the second major order of business for Atlanta after locking up DT Grady Jarrett to an extension Monday. The Falcons are also working on a new deal for WR Julio Jones.
Jones, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Falcons back in 2016. He’s entering in the final year of his four-year, $4.546 million contract and set to make a base salary of $1.07 million for the 2019 season.
In 2018, Jones appeared in six games and recorded 53 tackles, one sack, two interceptions with one being returned for a touchdown, a forced fumble and six pass defenses.
We’ll have more on a new contract for Jones as the news is available.
